Restaurant Kaskis is one of Finland's most prestigious fine dining establishments, located on Kaskenkatu in Turku since 2014. What started as an ambitious culinary venture has evolved into an institution that has earned widespread recognition and respect in the Nordic gastronomic scene. In 2016, Kaskis made a defining decision to move away from à la carte menus entirely, committing instead to a prix-fixe tasting menu format that allows the kitchen complete creative freedom. This philosophy centers on showcasing seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients that reflect what's best at any given time of year. The restaurant's commitment to craftsmanship extends beyond the plate—head chef Erik has been spotted foraging in the forests surrounding Turku, collecting wild ingredients that later appear on the menu. Even the tableware is handcrafted; Erik, who was named Finland's Chef of the Year in 2013, has thrown pottery at the local clay studio to create custom ceramics for the restaurant. Kaskis received the Restaurant of the Year award in 2018, solidifying its status among Finland's culinary elite. In summer 2020, the restaurant expanded into a larger, completely renovated space (Kaskis/Kaski2), offering an enhanced dining experience while maintaining its signature energy and welcoming atmosphere.
